Darfur 24-Khartoum
Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court ICC , Fatou Bensouda, held a meeting with the Governor of the Darfur region, Mr. Moni Arko, at his home today in Khartoum, during which she discussed the coordination between the government of Sudan and the Hague based court.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minawi praised the public prosecutor’s stance aimed at realizing the truth and bringing justice to the perpetrators of crimes against humanity and genocidein Darfur region.
The governor of Darfur region stressed the need to hand over all suspects to the ICC, notably , Omar al-Bashir and Ahmed Haroun.
Minawi called on the judicial authorities to expedite the application of the law on the perpetrators of Darfur crimes in order to achieve goals of the glorious December revolution.
For her part, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda, said, “You know that we have already started investigating cases of war and genocide, and we are visiting Darfur for this purpose.”
Bensouda expressed her thanks to the people of Darfur for their continuous demand for the need to prosecute the perpetrators of the crimes, stressing that her visit and her team to Darfur will be an opportunity to see the conditions of the victims on the ground.
