The Sudan Liberation Movement said that the meeting of its head, Abdel Wahid Mohamed Nour, with Sudanese Prime Minister Dmtour Abdullah Hamdok in Juba, the capital of southern Sudan, discussed the entirety of the complex situations that Sudan is going through, and the need to achieve a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace, which addresses the roots of national crises.
The movement’s spokesman, Mohamed al-Nayer, said in a statement after the meeting that the movement’s delegation provided a full explanation to Dr Abdullah Hamdok about the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue initiative, which the movement intends to announce soon as a way out for Sudan from the state of disorientation and blockage of the political horizon.
A new round of negotiations was launched on Wednesday, In the capital of the state of South Sudan, between the transitional government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North led by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu, with the aim of reaching a peace agreement between the two sides.
According to Al-Nair, the meeting which took place in the presence of Dr. Barnabas Benjamin, Minister of Presidential Affairs in the Republic of South Sudan was a continuation of the outcomes of the meeting that had been held between the Prime Minister and the Head of the Movement in the French capital, Paris, on the 29th of 2019.
The non-signatory movement appreciated the efforts made by the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, and Dr. Barnaba Benjamin, Minister of Presidential Affairs, to achieve peace in Sudan.
