The governments of South and North Darfur alike have suspended primary and secondary classes for an indefinite period, following student protests against power cuts and the continuing water crisis.
The governor of North Darfur State , Mohamed Hassan Arabi, announced in a statement the indefinite suspension of the study in primary and secondary schools.
He added, “I have issued a decree under the emergency law suspending studies in Al-Fasher schools until further notice.” However, for the same reason, the South Darfur State Security Committee suspended studies in all schools in Nyala for an indefinite period.
Students in cities of Nyala and El Fasher took to the streets this morning protesting over power cut.
