Over 9 people were killed and more than 20 others were injured in armed clashes between supporters of two tribal leaders Thursday in Al-Sereef Bani Hussein, North Darfur.
Adam Abdel-Rahim, one of the tribe’s elders, told Darfur 24 that the beginning of the clashes took place yesterday and resulted in the death of one person, and it was renewed today with the killing of 9 people and wounding more than 20 others, with the participation of elements of the Rapid Support Forces in the fighting.
Adam added, The causes of the conflict go back to the appointment of Muhammad Ismail Adam as the head of the tribe by the former military governor of North Darfur, Malik al-Tayyib, more than a year ago, while some elders of the same tribe rejected that appointment
