Defense Minister Lieutenant General Yassin Ibrahim said that Sudan’s Security and Defense Council SSDC had taken several decisions and a package of measures that would contribute to calm conditions, return to normalcy, and avoid conflicts in the future.
On Tuesday evening, SSDC held a meeting headed by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, in which they discussed the internal security situation and Sudan’s external relations in its African and Arab peripheries.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Minister of Defense said the council was informed of the overall security situation in the country by focusing on the hotspots and areas of conflict in West Darfur and South Kordofan.
Lieutenant General Yassin Ibrahim indicated that the council had listened to reports from official delegations that made field visits to those states, and took several measures to preserve Security and stability.
The Minister of Defense stated that the meeting also discussed Sudan’s positive participation in the Lakes states Summit that was held in the Republic of Angola, which discussed the political and security situation in Central Africa. The Minister of Defense said that the Council thanked the countries that supported Sudan’s position and its keenness to pursue peaceful and diplomatic means in overcoming its internal and external problems.
