Deputy Chairman of the Sudan’s Sovereign Council, Mohamad Hamdan Dagalo, held talks on Saturday with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Mohamad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani in Doha.
It’s the first visit to the rich-Gulf state by a high-ranking Sudanese official since former president Albashir was overthrown in a nation-wide revolution.
Dagalo said in tweet that his meeting with the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister was frank and transparent, adding that they discussed relations between Sudan and Qatar and ways to develop them in all fields for the benefit of the peoples ..
Lt. Gen. Gen. Daglo was accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Omer Gamar-Eddin, and the Director of the General Intelligence Service, Lt. Gen. Jamal Abdul-Majid. Hemedti said in a tweet before his departure for Doha that the visit comes at this precise time to emphasize the depth of relations between the two countries and to strengthen joint cooperation in all fields for the benefit of the two peoples. The Sudan Sovereign Council had announced earlier a launch of a diplomatic campaign to clarify Sudan’s position to Arab and African countries on the stalemate Renaissance Dam negotiations and border tension with Ethiopia.
