The Sudanese authorities have indefinitely closed El Geneina airport, the capital of West Darfur, due to the closure of the main road linking the airport with the city center.
The airlines had resumed its flights on Saturday and Sunday after a week-long break.
Darfur24 correspondent from El-Geneina reported that protesters closed the main road connecting the airport with the city center on Sunday, demanding dismissal of the State governor, Mohamed Abdullah Al-Duma, and dismantling of IDP camps in the vicinity of El-Geneina city.
On Monday, Tarco Aviation, one of the companies operating at El Geneina airport, apologized to its customers for canceling its flights from El Geneina to the rest of Sudan for an indefinite period due to the Sudanese authorities’ closure of the airport.
