On Monday, armed groups launched an attack on the village of Al-Tawil, east of the town of Gereida, in South Darfur, amid reports of the deaths and injuries.
A source said that residents of the city of Gereida, which is about 5 km from the village of Al-Tawil, saw smoke and flames above the village sky, and stated that the density of smoke indicates that the fire destroyed large numbers of homes.
It was not possible for Darfur 24 to know the casualties, but one of the leaders of the area, Muhammad Saleh said that there are ongoing efforts to find out the numbers of victims.
About two weeks ago, the village of Al-Tawil witnessed a similar attack by gunmen from the Rizeigat tribe, killing more than 10 people and wounding others from both sides of the conflict
