Seven people were killed and dozens others were seriously wounded as a result of renewed fighting between the Masalit and Falata tribes near the city of Gereida, 85 kilometers south of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur.
A native administration leader from Gereida, named Mohamed Abu Bakr, told Darfur 24 that the clashes renewed on Saturday, when 4 armed people from the Falata tribe came to Wadi Gereida to dig wells to water their cows.
“the two sides entered into altercations that developed into a clash that led to the death of 2 men from Fallata” Mohamed Abu Bakr added.
“the Rapid Support Forces deployed in the area intervened and separated the two sides by firing heavy weapons” Abu Bakr concluded.
