December 14, 2020 – The US embassy in Khartoum announced Monday, that Sudan had officially been removed from the state sponsor of terrorism list, after the 45-day period granted to the Senate to reject the executive order of outgoing President Donald Trump.
However, late October, Trump signed an executive order to delete Sudan from the blacklist after nearly 27 years of sanctions. The US embassy said in a tweet on Monday morning “the congressional notification period of 45 days has lapsed and the Secretary of State has signed a notification stating rescission of Sudan’s State sponsor of Terrorism designation is effective as of today (December 14), to be published in the federal register.
