November 27, 2020 (Khartoum) On Friday morning, large crowds from all walks of life accompanied the body of the leader of the Umma Party, Imam Sadiq al-Mahdi, to his final resting place at the Mahdi Dome cemetery in the national capital Omdurman.
A solemn state funeral was organized, upon the arrival of the body this morning at Khartoum International Airport, where the mourners were led by the Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abd al-Fatah al-Burhan, Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, and a number of ministers.
The body of the deceased was carried on an open vehicle to Caliph Square in Omdurman, where the mourners prayed over it. The body of the Mahdi, who passed away on Thursday at Abu Dhabi Military Hospital at the age of 85, was buried in the Mahdi Dome Cemetery in Omdurman
