November 26, 2020 –(El-Fasher) Hundreds of citizens in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, have organized a protest march after their participation in the funeral of the bodies of the victims of the murder that took place in Tawila area 60 kilometers west of El Fasher following killing of two people.
Gunmen opened fire on two people who were on their farm in the Martal area, which led to their death on the spot, while the perpetrators fled.
The protesters carried the bodies of the two dead to the house of the governor of North Darfur, and demanded the state government to stop the armed attacks against unarmed civilians, to arrest the perpetrators and to put an end to the criminals who continued to undermine the security and stability of the area with their repeated attacks.
The protesters also carried banners calling for a ban on wearing a camouflage and carrying weapons, and for the dismissal police and army commanders.
The governor of North Darfur acknowledged the existence of a shortage of vehicles in police stations in the localities to facilitate their mission in pursuing criminals, and promised to implement the demands of the protesters.
The murders by unknown gunmen have returned to North Darfur once again, which has brought back state of insecurity that has been in Darfur in the past years.
