October 31, 2020 (Nyala) The Faculty of Medicine at Nyala University faces a number of obstacles and problems that impeded the entire academic process.

The college, which was established in 2014 AD, may not have taken into account the Ministry of Higher Education and the university administration the necessity to provide the components for establishing a college of medicine in this university, and it lacks the infrastructure, teaching staff and the university environment.

The result was that the first batch that was accepted in 2014 still did not exceed the third semester, and university students entered the arena of conflict with the university administration in search of their rights in education stipulated in human rights.

Students of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nyala attribute the situation in the college to the weakness of the university administration and the lack of a vision for it to address the problems facing the college.

Student Abdul Salam Taha says that the complete absence of the college’s administration represents the basis for the crises in which the College of Medicine at Nyala University is based.

Student Abdel Moneim Mohamed says that since its establishment in the year 2014 AD, the college has been punished by 4 deans, all of whom failed to set a fixed academic calendar, which resulted in the accumulation of student payments, as there are two payments in the first year and two in the second year, and by next November there will be three batches For the third year.

Student Ali Ismail reviewed the problems facing the college in the curriculum and said the curriculum lacks basic materials for a medical student, namely the subjects of histology and embryology, in addition to the absence of a laboratory in the college.

Regarding the university environment,  student Muhammad Abdullah described the Faculty of Medicine at Nyala University as a cemetery of dreams and a land of false hopes, and said that there are more than 100 students who submitted their resignations from the college, while some students suffered from psychological disorders and others left outside the country.

A popular trend emerged in the city of Nyala to adopt college issues in order to search for solutions to them with the state government and the Ministry of Higher Education, which has direct responsibility.   Meanwhile, the Board of Deans of the University of Nyala issued a statement in which it acknowledged that the Faculty of Medicine faces many deficiencies, but addressing them requires adequate financial resources and more time to complete them.

The statement which was seen  by Darfur 24 stated that some of the students ’demands are not from their specializations, especially the exemption and appointment of a college administration, and warned that the university lacks the financial capacity that would enable it to provide the appropriate infrastructure for the college, including laboratories and equipping buildings.

According to the statement  that the meeting of the University Board of Directors, which was held on October 3, 2020 AD, decided to launch an appeal to the Faculty of Medicine at Nyala University.
