October 19, 2020 (Khartoum) Governor of Central Darfur State, Dr. Adeeb Abdel Rahman Youssef, met this evening at the Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Mrs. Fatou Bensouda. Fatou Bensouda expressed her happiness to meet Dr. Adeeb, the Wali of Central Darfur, the state in which the massacres were committed, noting that the purpose of the visit is to discuss with the Sudanese authorities the issues of the International Criminal Court related to Darfur. Bensouda said that the meeting discussed ways of cooperating with the Sudanese authorities regarding the case of the accused Ali Abdel-Rahman Kosheib, which the court is looking into now, in order to obtain more information and evidence as soon as possible. She stated that the visit of Dr. Adeeb Abdel Rahman Youssef, Wali of Central Darfur State, to the mass graves and his standing at the graves of the victims last August, was a historic visit and affirms the government’s keenness to achieve justice for the victims. For his part, the governor of Central Darfur said that the meeting with Bensouda this time came in Khartoum instead of the meetings in New York and The Hague in previous years, and he considered this matter a victory for the victims and an enhancement of justice. Adeeb affirmed his government’s readiness for absolute cooperation to achieve justice for all victims in Darfur.
