September 28, 20120 -Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan denied the change of the government delegation to peace negotiations headed by Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamdan Hemedti, and confirmed that the issue of secularism is a matter of state institutions that was not discussed in the High Peace Council meetings.

Press reports leaked information about changing the negotiating delegation and forming a new delegation to resume negotiations with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement headed by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu.

SPLM-N alhilu withdrew from the recent negotiating sessions in Juba in protest against what it considered violations of the Rapid Support Forces in South Kordofan in conjunction with the continuation of
negotiations, and stipulated its return to the negotiating table to change Hemeti from the leadership of the government delegation.

The Sovereignty Council said in a statement, “The Sovereign Council affirms that the news is completely untrue, and that the government negotiating delegation has not undergone any change, and the issue of
separating religion from the state has not been discussed at all in the meetings of the High Peace Council and that it is not concerned with it, but rather an issue of institutions.”
