September 15, 2020 (Khartoum) France’s ambassador to Sudan, Emmanuel Platman, announced her country’s commitment to work to persuade the Sudanese parties that did not join the peace negotiation table, saying that the Hamdok-Helou agreement represents an important step in
reaching a comprehensive peace agreement.
She also affirmed France keenness to support the transitional period and stand by the Sudanese people in light of these exceptional circumstances that it is going through.
Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, received in his office in the Presidential Palace the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Khartoum, Emmanuel Platman.
In a press statement after the meeting, the French ambassador affirmed her country’s readiness to provide urgent aid to Sudan in light of the difficult circumstances that it is going through, noting that the
French government, through the Disaster Management Center in Paris, is working with the Sudanese government to provide the necessary aid and assistance to the victims of the floods
The French ambassador considered the joint declaration recently signed between Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdok and the head of the Popular Movement North Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu as an important step for reaching a comprehensive peace agreement.
She added that the meeting dealt with the mission of the United Nations political mission, UNITAMS, which will begin its work in Sudan as soon as the UNAMID forces withdraw from Darfur.
