The city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, has been in darkness for the second day in a row due to the lack of operating fuel, which has paralyzed work in government institutions, while
services dependent on electricity have stopped.
The Director of El Geneina Electricity Generation ,said that the city of El Geneina is witnessing a complete shortage of fuel supply these days, adding, “The quantities that reach us are very few due to the
difficulty of transportation in autumn season, as the situation reached a critical stage”.
Engineer Hassan indicated that four vehicles carrying fuel sufficient for partial operation for six days had arrived, indicating that the city’s consumption per day exceeded 40 tons, equivalent to 180 barrels
per day.
Meanwhile, dozens of citizens protested in front of the Civil Registry headquarters due to the suspension of services due to the power outage for the second day.
Protesters managed to block the main street before riot police could disperse them without using violence.
