September 7, 2020 (Khartoum) Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived today Monday in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, for a one-day State
visit.

Abdel Fattah was received at Asmara International Airport by Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, and a number of senior Eritrean officials.  According to the media office of the Sovereign Council, al-Burhan was
accompanied by the director of the General Security and Intelligence Service, Jamal Abdul-Majid, and the head of the Military Intelligence Authority, Yasser Mohamed Othman.

The visit of the Head of the Sovereign Council ,comes a week after the signing of the peace agreement between the Sudanese government and the Revolutionary Front in Juba, and the Declaration of Principles
agreement between the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, and the head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North , Abdulaziz Al-Hilu, in Addis Ababa.

Tensions have grown over the companies affiliated with the army, which reach more than 200 companies, which operate in vital fields, without contributing to the public treasury, as the civilian government
demands that it be transferred to the Ministry of Finance, while the army maintains its ownership.

The relationship between the military and civilian components of the transitional government remained tainted by divergent tensions, especially in light of the demands of the civil part of the government
to restore the economic companies affiliated with the army.

Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, believes that the issue of restoring economic companies in the security and military sectors is a priority for the transitional government to subordinate them to the
Ministry of Finance.
