Governor of South Darfur, Musa Mahdi, said that he would do his level best to provide security for the state’s residents, adding that he would submit his resignation if he failed to do so.
But he said that providing security needs the capabilities, which the police forces in the state lack.
The governor’s remarks comes at the backdrop of the killing of a rickshaw driver by unidentified gunmen in the city of Nyala.
Addressing the rickshaw drivers’ sit-in, in which some citizens participated, the governor said that he summoned the director of the state police and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces and spoke
with them about the incident.
The criminal investigation and criminal evidence forces have been deployed to search for the perpetrators” the wali added. Meanwhile, the state government has deployed Rapid Support Forces in
some neighborhoods of the city to provide security.
