September 2, 2020 (Khartoum) The Corruption Prosecution and Financial Investigations Prosecution office in Sudan has arrested a group of symbols of the former regime accused of being involved in the file of
Sudan Sports City.
Sudan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports said in a statement Tuesday that the prosecution had arrested Sharaf Al-Din Bananga, Kebshour Koko, Jawdat Allah Othman, Imad Fadl Al-Marji and Youssef Awad Al-Karim, in
preparation for presenting them to fair trial. Several months ago, the Ministry of Youth and Sports filed a
complain regarding the infringements that affected the Sports City, which lasted for decades.
In the last period, the Public Prosecution Office interrogated some of the defendants, headed by Ali Othman Mohamed Taha, Abd al-Rahim Muhammad Husayn, and Yusef Abd al-Fattah, before the investigations led to the entry of new names into the accusation chamber.
The ministry’s statement indicated that the prosecution decided earlier to seize all lands of Sudan Sports City and prevent its disposal, and recommended that no new work be carried out in the city until the investigations are completed and the file is referred to the judiciary.
