August 30, 2020 -Sudanese Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, arrived in the state of South Sudan Sunday, to participate in the signing ceremony of the peace agreements between the Sudanese
government and the armed struggle movements.
Signing peace agreement comes after rounds of direct negotiations that began in October of last year, between the Sudanese government and a number of armed movements that have been fighting the regime of ousted President Omar Al-Bashir for 20 years.
The negotiations took place with the mediation of the State of South Sudan, which gained independence from Sudan 9 years ago, and under the auspices of a number of regional and international organizations.
The Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abd al-Wahid Muhammad Nur, is considered the most prominent absentee from the negotiation round, as the movement refuses to sit with the military, whom it considers an extension of the ousted regime of al-Bashir.
The transitional Government prime minster, was received at Juba International Airport today, Sunday, by “the Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for Security Affairs, Head of the
Mediation Team and members of the mediation delegation, Tut Qalwak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Patrica Khamisa Wani and Minister of Finance Salvator Garang Mbeur.
Dr. Hamdok was accompanied to Juba by a high-level delegation, which included Minister of Cabinet Affairs Ambassador Omar Manis, Minister of Justice Nasruddin Abdul-Bari, Minister of Culture and Information
Faisal Mohamed Salih,Acting Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Heba Mohamed Ali and Minister of Energy and Mining.
Prime Minister wrote, on the social networking site Facebook, saying: “Today I go to Juba, the capital of South Sudan, to join the government delegation and comrades in the armed struggle movements
with joy and support the peace agreement that will be signed in the initials tomorrow, Monday,
