August 15, 2020 (Khartoum) Prime Minister of Egypt,Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, arrived in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, Saturday, accompanied by a number of ministers on a one-day State visit to
discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and to enhance cooperation in various fields.
He was received upon arrival at Khartoum Airport by the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, a number of ministers, state officials, Egypt’s ambassador to Sudan, Hossam Issa, and Egypt’s Consul General
in Sudan, Counselor Ahmed Adly.
It’s worth noting that the Egyptian Prime Minister, is accompanied by the Ministers of Trade, Industry, Irrigation, Health, Electricity along with representatives of the Ministry of Transport and a number
of ministries’ undersecretaries.
The Egyptian delegation’s visit comes at a time when the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam file is witnessing a state of tension between Khartoum, Cairo and Addis Ababa, as Sudan adheres to negotiations under the umbrella of the African Union.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), formerly known as the MillenniumDam, is under construction in the Benishangul-Gumuz region of Ethiopia, on the Blue Nile River, which is located about 40km eastof Sudan. The project is owned by EthiopianElectric Power Corporation (EEPCO).
