August 12, 2020 (Khartoum) A prominent leader in the defunct regime, Ali Othman Mohamed Taha, will appear before the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Next Sunday, to continue his investigation and complete his interrogation in the case of the Sports City, located, south of the capital, Khartoum.
The former Minister of Youth and Sports, Walaa Al-Boushi, accused Taha of deducting part of the city for the benefit of organizations, and a university.
Thirty years ago, specifically in February 1991, the ousted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir had issued a decree allocating an area of 1.4 million square meters for building “the sport city”, and laying its foundation stone in 1994. Taha is considered one of the prominent figures of the former ruling and now dissolved National Congress Party.However he held the Ministry of Social Planning 1993 to 1995and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 1998, and held the positions of Deputy and First Deputy of Al-Bashir during the period from 1998 to 2013.
