August 9, 2020 (Nyala)The Justice and Equality Movement has called on the parties to the negotiations in Juba and the rest of the armed struggle movements to accelerate the achievement of peace in the country.
Speaking in a news conference in Nyala, South Darfur, political secretary of the movement, Abu Bakr Hamid Nour , underscored the movement’s keenness to pursuit of peace.
“We are serious in supporting the peace line, so we believe that bringing peace as soon as possible is better than delay, because the Sudanese people are now in dire need of peace that brings security and stability” Abu Bakr added.
With regard to the secular and religious state , the political secretary of the movement said that this issue is not the right of the government or the armed struggle movements to decide on it, because it is up to the Sudanese people to say their word.
Nour did not rule out that the dissolved Congress Party would have a role in fueling tribal conflicts in Darfur
Abu Bakr declared the movement’s support for the civilian governors, and affirmed that it would stand with them unless they took action that would harm the citizens, and called on all political forces to leave their narrow affiliations and self-interests at this stage for the sake of the homeland.
While taking questions from reporters ,JEM political secretary, expressed his movement support for the measures taken by the government of South Darfur to control security and prevent sabotage and attack on regular forces, adding, “We call for enforcement of the law, and any clear and transparent legal measures taken to preserve security and stability, we are with it.”
