Death toll from the torrential rains that fell in the Kabkabiya, North Darfur Saturday has risen to 9 dead and 23 missing, while the area witnessed mass exodus of citizens from their homes to various schools
and government facilities.
Meanwhile, citizens of the locality have denounced the silence and failure of the state government and humanitarian agencies to provide relief to the affected people and provide them with urgent assistance,
as hundreds live without shelter or houses as their homes collapsed partially and completely.
On Saturday evening, Kabkabiya witnessed heavy rain that caused great damage to citizens’ homes and farms, forcing more than 2 thousand people to flee their homes and take shelter in schools and
government facilities.
The executive director of the locality, Abdul Rahim Ahmadai Shannan, told Darfur 24”that among the deaths was a woman and two children, all of whom drowned as a result of torrential rains in the area
Ahmadai appealed to the state authorities and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to help the affected residents.
