August 6, 2020 (Nyala)The people of Abu-dous area, 90 km south of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state , have called on the government to arrest the remaining militias that attacked the village
last week.
However, armed militias attack on the village of Abu-Dous, last week left over 17 people dead and more than 30 seriously wounded.
The joint government forces that were deployed in the area after the incident announced – earlier – that they had arrested dozens of suspects involved in the attack on the village of Abu-Dous in the
locality of Gereida.
The newly appointed civilian governor of South Darfur, Musa Mahdi, visited the village of Abu-Dous, Wednesday, in his third day, after taking up his duties, to find out the conditions of the citizens
affected by the attack.
Representative of the villagers named Abu Al-Zaki Ibrahim, called on the wali(governor) of the state, to keep the government forces that were deployed in the village.
“We need more forces to be deployed to our area for the sake of the citizens’ protection from further attacks” Abu Al-Zaki Ibrahim added. Addressing a crowd in Abu-Dous area , Governor of South Darfur, Musa
Mahdi, said that he would work to resolve all chaos created by the former National Congress party, and would do his best to impose State’s authority and the rule of law.
The governor said that the next stage would not be unfair to a displaced person or be punished for their affiliation or opposition to the government, as the previous regime did.
“All citizens of the State are equal before the law , despite their affiliation or opposition to the government” Musa concluded..
