July 25, 2020 (El-Geneina) At least 15 people were killed in tribal fighting between Arabs and Masalit tribes on Saturday, in Masteri area, south of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.
Darfur 24, correspondent in El-Geneina reported that the fighting which has been continuing since five o’clock in the morning has resulted in killing of 15 people, including four policemen, while the
attackers managed to seize the police station and the weapons store.
Meanwhile, the State Security Committee has embarked on closed door meeting with leaders of the Masalit and Arab tribes , in an attempt to curb the upsurge of violence in the State.
Gunmen, believed to be affiliated to Arab tribes, launched an attack in the early hours of Saturday morning on Misteri area, in retaliation for the killing of a woman and her two children near the area.
Darfur 24 learned that the State Security Committee had sent military reinforcements , but the downpours and valleys prevented the arrival of the government military forces to the area.
