July 25, 2020 -Armed movements in Darfur have denounced the attack on Abu-Doss residents in South Darfur State, that resulted in deaths and injuries of many people, calling on the transitional government to
conduct an urgent investigation and bring those involved to justice.
On Thursday, the town of Abu Doss, Gereida locality, South Darfur, came under attack by armed militias, in which 7 people were killed and 9 others were seriously injured.
Spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahed Nour said that the victims had returned to their village from the displaced camps in order to live and practice their agricultural
activities, adding that the militias which had been armed by the former regime, prevented them from farming and launched this treacherous aggression against them.
He called on the government of Dr. Abdullah Hamduk to play its role and protect civilians in its areas of control and arrest the perpetrators and bring them to public courts, in addition to disarming
the militias, which he said are getting protection and support from some parties in the government.
The statement held the transitional government responsible, demanding a review of the security services ’tasks and their redevelopment according to a national vision in order to fully assume its
responsibility in protecting unarmed civilians from the repeated attacks by militias.
