July 23, 2020 (Khartoum) The National Umma Party announced Thursday that it  would not participate in the state government as announced by Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk, calling on its  members that were
chosen as governors of the states to withdraw.

Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk announced on Wednesday evening the list of civilian state governors on state TV.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, deputy head of the National Umma Party, Siddiq Ismail,   announced his party’s rejection of the governors’ list and appealed  to its affiliates  to withdraw,
saying that the selection process exceeded the agreed upon criteria and foundations.

For her part, Mariam al-Mahdi, the party’s deputy leader, said that one of the party’s justifications for refusing to participate is what happened in Khartoum State by naming a governor who belongs to one of
the political parties, while the agreement was to select an independent person with specific capabilities to be assigned for Khartoum governorship.

But Maryam confirmed that the Umma Party is still supportive of the transitional government and remains in the forces of freedom and change, saying that the press conference comes within the framework of
advice and transparency to clarify the situation
