July 6, 2020 (Khartoum) Atmosphere of happiness and joy, prevailed in Nertati sit-in Square, in the state of Central Darfur, after the head of the federal delegation, member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hassan Al-Taishi, announced that all the demands of the protesters would be met.
The Nartati Peaceful sit-in, in front of the headquarters of the local government buildings, in west Darfur state , which has entered its ninth day, is considered the first peaceful and civilian sit-in, since the bloody, violent and brutal disperse of the protest near the Army HQs in the capital Khartoum, in which 100 peaceful and defenseless protesters were gunned down.
Today, Monday, the Federal delegation headed by Al-Taishi reached consensus with Nartati sit-in committee, regarding the demands raised by the protesters.
It was agreed to form a joint force from the army, rapid support, police to collect weapons, put an end to security violations, alongside secure the agricultural season as well as support the
initiative for peaceful coexistence in the locality of West Jebel Marra.
The two parties have agreed to establish a general court in Nertati, however, there are three prosecutors on their way to the locality, in order to strengthen the rule of law.
Al-Tayshi gave an enlightenment about what was agreed upon in the Juba negotiations on land issues and Hawakir, announcing that there had been agreement to establish a land commission in Darfur.
Concerning the implementation of major development projects in the locality, Al-Taishi said that these projects will be implemented within the framework of the project for developing and reconstructing Darfur, which was agreed upon during the peace negotiations in Juba.
For his part, the Minister of Culture and Information, official spokesman for the government, Faisal Mohamed Salih, said that the Sudanese people view with admiration and appreciation the peaceful,
civil and democratic struggle that the people of Nertati had chosen to achieve their demands and obtain their rights.
Addressing thousands of protestors, in Nartiti sit-in Square,
Salih, stressed that resorting to this type of struggle was
established by the noble values of the glorious December revolution,
affirming that the transitional government, is determined to
establish a new era based on freedom, peace and justice, praising the
level of political awareness enjoyed by the people of Nartati.
“What we found in Nartati sit-in, reflects the civilization in its
best form” Concluded Faisal.
