July 2, 2020 -The United Nations, has revealed the displacement of about 27,000 people in the Jebel Marra area, as a result of the internal conflict between the SLM factions led by Abdel Wahid al-nur.
According to a report of the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), seen by Darfur 24, that about 27,000 people fled their homes and took refuge in Touqa village, Jebel Marra, due to
internal difference between two factions of the SLA/M led by Abdul Wahid.
The Government’s Humanitarian Aid Commission( HAC) in Rockero area, reported that people had arrived in Rockero, Jimmyiza Village, the village of Tugula, while others had taken refuge in the mountains.
On June 16, the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) undertook a mission to Toga Village (8 km northeast of the UNAMID team site in Golo), where an estimated number of 27,000 people, 90 percent of whom are women and children have fled their villages and taken refuge under trees and makeshift camps.
Based on public observations and reports from community leaders, the new arrivals , are in urgent need of food, non-food items and shelter.
