June 23, 2020 (El-Geneina) Fierce fighting between two groups of Sudanese and Chadian herders, resulted in the deaths of eight Sudanese and two Chadians, as well as the wounding of three shepherds, during
an attack carried out by Chadian gunmen on pastoralists in West Darfur, which continued throughout the day today on Tuesday.
One of the native administration leaders in West Darfur, named Ahmed Moussa, told Darfur 24 that Chadian gunmen carried out an attack on two Sudanese herders in Wassata area , in the far north of West Darfur state.
He added that the attack, which took place on Tuesday morning, left eight shepherds dead and wounded three others. While two of the attackers were killed. Pointing out that Wassata
area, is located at a distance of 53 km inside the Sudanese territories.
The northern areas of West Darfur are witnessing ongoing conflicts between Sudanese herders and the Chadians due to lack of water in the months of May and June before the rains.
