June 18, 2020 (Khartoum) The deputy head of Sudan’s ruling military council arrived on Wednesday in Addis Ababa, where he is to meet Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed and senior officials to discuss
bilateral relations, border issues and issues of common concern between the two countries.

General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known by his nickname Hemeti, is on his first trip to Ethiopia  since his appointment as deputy head of Sudan’s military council following the April ouster of Omar al-Bashir
after months of protests

Border issues between Sudan and Ethiopia, bilateral relations and issues of common concern between the two neighboring countries are at the forefront of the discussions of Deputy Chairman of the
Transitional Sovereign Council.

Several media outlets reported that Hamidaty was highly welcomed upon his arrival at Addis Ababa airport from senior Ethiopian officials, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Damaki McConnen, the Chief of the Army
Staff, General Adam Mohamed, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Godo Andrachao.

Last May, Ethiopian militia supported by the Ethiopian army launched cross border attack on  Sudanese citizens and armed forces on the outskirts of Quraish and al-Fashqah in the east of the country,
killing and wounding a number of officers and members of the armed forces and Sudanese citizens, including children
