Drugs crisis in Sudan reached a late stage, after most medicines , were missing from the pharmacy shelves, especially life-saving drugs, as the Ministry of Health attributed the crisis to the Ministry of
Finance’s lack of commitment to pay the medicine bill since December 2019.
The Central Committee of Sudan’s Pharmacists, sent an urgent note to the Council of Ministers requesting it to intervene to find viable solutions to the crisis, to ensure the citizen’s right to a safe and
effective drug at the appropriate and feasible price.
The medicine crisis in Sudan has reached the point of exchanging accusations between the ministries of health and finance, each of which accuses the other of causing the crisis.
According to a letter written by the Minister of Health, Dr. Akram al-Tom, addressed to the Minister of Finance, Ibrahim al-Badawi, seenby Darfur 24, a catastrophe is imminent due to the lack of life-saving drugs if the Finance Ministry does not fulfill its financial obligations to the pharmaceutical sector.
