Talks on Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, will resume on Monday amid Egyptian accusations against Ethiopia of seeking to cancel all previously reached agreements, at a time when Ethiopia rejects many
basic issues.
The Sudanese Ministry of Irrigation recently said that there is consensus in the views of the three countries on most of the technical issues except for some limited details. It also revealed a heated and extensive discussion on the legal aspects of the agreement that the three countries are working to reach.
This comes at a time when the spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed El Sebaei ,announced that the Khartoum, Cairo and Addis Ababa talks, on the Nahda Dam on the Nile, had reached deadlock end because of Ethiopia’s intransigence.
Ethiopia believes that the dam is a necessary need for it to achieve development and generate electric power, while Egypt and Sudan see it as a threat to their water resources
