June 14, 2020( Khartoum) The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Sudan announced launch of a pilot phase of direct cash support project for Sudanese families, which covers about 80 percent
of the total population.
The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with relevant ministries and bodies, with funding from the Sudanese government and partners, and with technical support from the
World Food Program and the World Bank.
It’s worth noting that thirty two million million people will benefit from the new project.which covers the whole country.
Minister of Finance, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badawi, said that the direct cash support project for Sudanese families comes within the framework of the long-term development vision.
“The project is adopted by the transitional government as part of the government’s effort to alleviate the effects of the current economic hardships, created by the Coronavirus pandemic, especially for people
with Limited income” Dr. Ibrahim said.
Albadawi, expected that digital payments would contribute to connecting families in regions that have suffered from wars and systematic poverty.
