EU Sends Medical Aid to Sudan to help Fight COVID-19

June 10, 2020 (Khartoum) The European Union (EU) sent a cargo plane
to Sudan on Thursday, carrying medical supplies to assist the east
African country fight against novel coronavirus pandemic.
“Sudan’s COVID-19 infections have jumped to 6582, including 401
deaths” the ministry of health said in a statement.
The first cargo plane which arrived at Khartoum International airport
on Thursday, was carrying about 90 tons of medical aid, medical
equipment alongside supplies, vaccines as well as water purifiers,
medications and medical equipment to fight Covid- 19 .
A statement by the European Union said that all equipment will be
distributed and used through international organizations, including
MSF, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Children’s
Fund (UNICEF) and the International Medical Corps, in coordination and
cooperation with the federal government and local health authorities in Sudan.
The second flight, which will carry relief and humanitarian aid
personnel, is scheduled to arrive in Sudan on June 24.
