June 5, 2020 (Khartoum) Sudan’s tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday rose to 5714 as 215 new infections were announced by the Sudan ministry of health.
19 deaths were recorded from the virus on Thursday bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from the virus to 333.
“114 patients have recovered, lifting total number of recoveries to 1825” The ministry said in a statement.
Khartoum recorded the highest figure of cases reported with 167 infections. The state also remains the epicenter for the disease.
A breakdown of the new confirmed cases shows that Khartoum states has the highest number with 167 infections, followed by Aljazeera State, White Nile 10, Red sea5, Senar6,North kordofan3, West Kordofan2 and one case in both Gadarif and River Nile States.
The Ministry of Health urges citizens to stick to preventive measures such as social distancing, mask wearing and regular hand washing.
Despite the increasing figures, many Sudanese are alleging that Sudan is not testing enough and the figures might not reflect the true situation in the country.
