May 20, 2020 (Nyala) Ten medical staff in Nyala, South Darfur have tested positive for the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus (COVID-19) since outbreak of the disease.
Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohamed Idris, announced that the health staff who had been infected , were 7doctors, the Director General of Nyala Teaching Hospital alongside a
pharmacist, a medical laboratory technician as well as health officer.
South Darfur health authorities have so far recorded 24 coronavirus cases, including 3 fatalities and 2 recoveries.
Meanwhile, State authorities issued strict decisions against the backdrop of recording coronavirus cases, closing markets and banning public gathering.
In a press statement on Tuesday, Director General of Ministry of health, confirmed that Coronavirus has spread widely in the state, but due to lack of capabilities, not all infections were recorded.
Idriss disclosed that following arrival of medical equipment from Khartoum on Tuesday, Nyala laboratory would be ready for testing coronavirus samples.
