May 18, 2020 (Elfashir) Dozens of elderly people’s deaths from a
mysterious disease have recently been reported in El-fashir North
Darfur.
However, scores of mysterious fatalities in El-Fashir have caused
concern and fears among citizens about widespread of the novel
Coronavirus in the country.
The city of El-Fashir recorded during the past three days no less than
50 deaths among the elderly, ranged between 10 to 12 deaths per day,
at a time when many of the relatives of these deceased attributed the
causes of deaths to diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer, as the
city became a hotbed of Mysterious deaths in Darfur.
It is noteworthy, that the state of North Darfur recorded until Sunday
evening 12 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, including four deaths
and one case of recovery.
For his part, Director of the Emergency and Epidemiology Department of
the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Tagwa Idris Brima, did
not rule out link between the mystery disease in Elfashir and
coronavirus, calling on citizens to report immediately any death or
symptoms similar to Coronavirus disease.
