April 12, 2020 (Khartoum) Prominent leader  of the Sudanese Communist Party, Farouk Abu Issa, died on Sunday at the age of 87,  after long illness. He will be burried  at Al-Bakry Cemetery in  Khartoum.

Prime minster Abdallah Hamdouk, said” we are saddened by the demise  of farouk abu issa, and his death  is a great loss to the sudanese socitey”.

“In his political career ,the deceased  faced arrest and persecution with perseverance and courage, and he fought on many fronts and worked to expose the former regime politically and legally in all forums and will remain in the memory of our people as an inspiring and great symbol”  Abdallah Hamadouk added.

Abu Issa joined Sudanese Communist Party, while studying at Hantoub Secondary School, through the Association of Communist Students, and he was part of its political burea  since 1950, and in that period it was called the Sudanese Movement for National Liberation.

The communist party  figure , had remained outside Sudan since the Islamic National Front seized power through the military coup it carried out in 1989, and returned to the country in 2005, following the peace agreement concluded by the Sudanese government with the SPLM. Faroug was subjected to repeated arrests during the era of former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, due to his active activities That opposed  government of the former regime.
