April 7, 2020 -An armed group on board three four-wheel-drive vehicles has assaulted 47 displaced persons from Nertati camp in Central Darfur.
The gunmen beat the Internally displaced people with sticks, whips and rifle butts, which resulted in the injury of 9 of them who were later taken to hospital for treatment.
The militants also burned vechicles which were used by the IDPs as transportation in the Kure area, 3 kilometers west of Nertati locality.The deputy general coordinator of the camps for the displaced persons and refugees, Shafi Abdul Karim, told Darfur 24 that the attack was carried out on 47 displaced persons in broad daylight by gunmen, and that 9 of the victims were transferred to the hospital..
” Residents of the camp went to their farms with the aim of cleaning them in preparation for the autumn season, and in the meantime, an armed group beat them up and directed racial abuse against, then burned all the vechicles that they were using as mean transportation” added Shafi Abdul Karim.
Al-Shafei has renewed his demand for the federal and state government to stop the armed attacks on the displaced, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to a fair trial.
