April 5, 2020 (El-Fshir) El-Fasher, North Darfur, is suffering nowadays from an acute and horrific crisis in drinking water, which caused many citizens of the southern neighborhoods to complain about the lack of water for nearly two months.
The crisis led to hike in water prices, as the price per barrel ranged between one hundred and two hundred pounds, in light of the difficulty in get drinking water.
Darfur24 reporter, saw families who went out in to search for water to meet their need for thirst, and during his tour inside the neighborhoods of “Al-Thawra South, and Um Shijirta in El Fasher, which are the hard hit areas , he witnessed crowds of people and animals gathering by the only water tank in to obtain water.
Experts expect that if the causes of the drinking water crisis are not addressed, the city of El Fasher will experience the worst stages of thirst during this summer, amid warnings and fears that the mobilization of citizens and their stampede to obtain drinking water will cause the spread of the Corona pandemic in the state.
