March 25, 2020 (Juba) Sudanese Minister of Defense, General Jamal Omar died of angina, in the capital of South Sudan on Wedneseday, he was 60.
It is expected that the Sudanese authorities will begin arrangements to transfer the body to Khartoum. Meanwhile, the South Sudan mediation team has announced the suspension of Juba negotiations between the Sudanese government and armed struggle movements.
However, the late army general was born in the year 1960, he hailed from the Hajar Al-Asal area in the state of the Nile River, he was affiliated with the 31st batch of the Military College, and had a close relationship with the chairman of the Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
Sudanese Prime Minister and members of his cabinet have mourned the Minister of Defense.
“The deceased passed away while he was working hard in Juba, South Sudan to bring about peace and stability to his country” said the Sudanese prime minister.
The South Sudan mediation team announced early Wednesday morning the news of the death of General Jamal Al-Din Omar.
It’s worth noting that General Jamal Omar was leading the Sudanese government delegation to the security arrangements negotiation in the ongoing peace talks in Juba
