March 22, 2020 (El-fashir) Medical staff of Al-Fasher Teaching Hospital in North Darfur went on strike Sunday, to protest against an attack by a soldier from the armed forces on a female doctor inside the obstetrics and gynecology hospital.
The soldier beat a female doctor in the gynecology and obstetrics hospital , follwing the death of one of his female relatives due to a natural birth. Meanwhile, the hospital administration was unable to file a complaint on the very day of the inccident, for reasons that the statement did not mention.
According to a statement issued by the coordination of medical and health cadres in North Darfur, the purpose of the strike is to protect their rights. However, the statement also called for the necessity of providing a joint force to protect medical personnel in health institutions.
El-fashir teaching hospital staff, have vowed not to resume work unless their demands are met.
