March 12 , 2020 (Khartoum) Economic and political experts have agreed that the formation of the supreme mechanism for managing the Sudanese economic crisis headed by the leader of rapid support forces , Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Hemeti, is an indication of failure for the transitional government to save Sudan’s economy from collapse.
However, some experts, have argued that the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning , Ibrahim al-Badawi, is still pursuing the same policies of the former regime that had sparked the revolution erupted, while others said that the success of the economic mechanism , is determined by its composition and diversity, and the powers granted to it, as well as its homogeneity, and its ability To take, implement and monitor the decision.
The Councils of Sovereignty and Ministers and the Forces for Freedom and Change issued, late on Thursday evening, a decision to form a supreme mechanism for managing the economic.
At a time when the mechanism of managing the economic crisis, which is chaired by the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo “Hamidati”, is scheduled to hold a meeting, on Sunday morning, at the Republican Palace, a leader of the Forces for Freedom and Change and the political secretary of the Sudanese Congress Party, Suleiman Almahi informed Darfur 24 that dealing with the economic crisis is the prerogative of the Council of Ministers not the sovereignty council, demanding that the mechanism be headed by the executive branch.
Suleiman was surprised by the presence of the Sovereignty Council in a committee related to an executive work of trade, industry, agriculture, and others, considering the chairmanship of the Sovereignt Council to the Mechanism as a sign of failure, and that the government has so far been unable to find solutions to economic crises.
Government incapability
For his part , economist and vice chancelor of Red Sea University, Professor Hassan Bashir, said that he was unaware of this mechanism and its function to address the crisis. However he saw that its formation reflects a government failture in dealing with the economic crisis, considering that the solution to this crisis should have been through the policies of the concerned ministries.
“What will be the legal and constitutional mechanism for this in the future, as it is not stipulated in the constitutional document” asked professor Hassan.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of the East and the banking expert and former Director General of the Khartoum Stock Exchange Dr. Issam El-Zein, Essam, that he was also surprised by the formation of the mechanism, and the ignorant of its tasks of anything that depends on its understanding of the economic problem, its analysis and treatment, and its relationship with the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance, which makes it difficult to analyze.
The former Director General of the Khartoum Stock Exchange advised the government to change the experimental policies of the former regime, which proved to be failing, and which he said had poor results, creating negative economic indicators, and he believed that no sane person could try a failed policy.
Issam said Ibrahim Al Badawi, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning is pursuing policies of the former regime Minister of Finance, Moataz Mousa, that had sparked revolution , created high inflation rates, and led to the collapse of the economy and deterioration of national currency.
Effective and tangible solutions
Professor of economics at the University of Sudan for Science and Technology, Dr. Abdel-Azim Al-Mahal, said to address the Sudanese economic crisis, you need identify a clear methodology for solving the economic problem.
“To find effective remedy to the economic problem, it’s better to distance it from different partisan frictions, ethnic differences, etc., as it is necessary to pay attention to people’s livelihood directly and the government must give that a high priority, and the solution of our problems must be linked according to our national capabilities, and not linking the solution of problems to foreign aid, gifts and loans” added, Dr. Abdel-Azim Al-Mahal. The senior economist , pointed out that there was an option to change the government executive economic crew because of its failure, or to search for mechanisms and parallel bodies, which have problems represented in inconsistencies and inconsistencies between those bodies and the executive ministries, and there appears to be inconsistency between the forces of freedom and change on the one hand, and the executive on the other hand . The success of the supreme mechanism for managing the Sudanese economic crisis is determined by its composition , diversity, the powers granted to it” concluded Abdel-Azim Al-Mahal”
