February 29, 2020 (Nyala) The  General Coordinator of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)  in Darfur, has  welcomed the Sudanese government’s release of 3 IDPs who have spent five years in prison.

In a statement  extended to Darfur24, the  head of IDPs  coordination committee, Shafi Abdullah, said that the released men were arrested in January 2016 from inside  their camps.

On Thursday, the Sudanese authorities released 21 prisoners of war who had been  detained by the ousted regime of President Omar Al-Bashir.

Al-Shafie Abdullah explained that despite repeated calls by the displaced and the families of the detainees, the authorities were late in releasing them.

The Coordinator revealed the presence of three displaced persons who are still detained in prisons, demanding  their  immediate and unconditional  release.
