February 28,2020 (Khartoum) German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has announced his country’s readiness to support the peace process in Sudan and follow up its implementation in the future with all possible means, , calling on the transitional government to overcome the economic and political challenges it faces.
“We are aware of the difficult economic situation that Sudan going through n and we know that it needs access to international financial institutions” added the German president.
Steinmeier arrived in Khartoum on Thursday for a two-day state visit, at the head of a high-ranking delegation of about fifty people. However, it’s the first visit of a senior Western official to the country for 35 years.
The Senior German official, told Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdock during a joint press conference in the Council of Ministers thursday, that Sudan could count on Germany, noting that he had spoken with Hamdock about economic potentials, pointing to the work being done to improve the situation permanently, and that Germany is ready to support the peace process in Sudan.
The German president is optimistic that Sudan will overcome the enormous challenges it faces and take steps towards democracy, praising the courage of the Sudanese people challenging difficulties , rejecting injustice and overthrowing the previous regime.
