February 27, 2020 (Khartoum) On Thursday morning, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, arrived in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum on a two-day state visit. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation.
The German delegation, led by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has embarked on extensive discussions with the Sudanese government on Germany’s support to remove Sudan from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, and helping it achieve peace and support economic growth.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will hold meetings and discussions with Sudanese government officials on bilateral relations.
The German president and his delegation will also pay field visits to a number of infrastructure and economic projects in Sudan, especially the electric power sector.
Speaking to reporters at a joint press conference , chairman of the transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and the German President, affirmed their eagerness to enhance joint relations in all fields and to improve strategic partnership in light of the new stage in Sudan.
Al-Burhan said that the discussions focused on issues of common concern and future cooperation as well as the required German support, noting that the talks dealt with German support to remove the name of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
