February 18, 2020 (Nyala) Darfur24 has learned from reliable sources, that finding of the investigation conducted by the commission formed by Attorney General, Taj Al-Sir about incidents of looting and destruction of the former UNAMID premises, indicates the suspicion of involvement of the governor of South Darfur Major General Hashim Khaled in the looting of the premises.
On Monday, the Attorney General, received the final report of the committee he had formed last January.
The commission was headed by Public Prosecutor of South Darfur, representatives of the judiciary, the army, the police, and rapid support forces , in addition to two members representing civil society organizations.
The committee had interrogated civilians and military witnesses, however, some of the soldiers who were guarding the premises, confessed their involvement in the looting.
The sources pointed out that some of the military admitted that they had stolen containers and that the displaced people who entered the headquarters had been invited by members of the regular forces.
Head of the investigation committee, Ibrahim Al-Hadi , said after submitting the final report to the Attorney General, that the committee’s work was concerned with the looting, damage and vandalism of UNAMID former premises in South Darfur.
Ibrahim added that the looted and vandalized assets, and building worth 90 million US dollars.
